It all had been going so well. Amy Winehouse had made it to her gig at the Glastonbury Festival (a feat, given her history of no-shows) and she actually looked pulled together in her sequined minidress and sky-high Louboutin heels.
She even managed to remember her lyrics (another feat), and for a moment some even allowed themselves to hope that this was the beginning of better days for the troubled singer.

Singer Amy Winehouse has begun to rehearse for her upcoming concerts, despite having treatment in hospital for traces of lung disease emphysema.

A spokesman for the star confirmed she has returned to work, but must go back to hospital for further treatment.

She is due to perform at a gig to mark Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday and Glastonbury festival at the weekend.

Her spokesman added it “looks likely” she will sing but they are awaiting “the final sign-off” from the doctors.

‘Early’ symptoms

On Monday Winehouse’s father told BBC Radio 1 his daughter had been “responding brilliantly to treatment” and she would recover “completely” as long as she stopped smoking.

Amy Winehouse singer music(LONDON) — Amy Winehouse has early stage emphysema and her lungs have been damaged by smoking crack cocaine and cigarettes, her father said in an interview published Sunday.

The Sunday Mirror quoted Mitch Winehouse as saying that Amy has an irregular heartbeat, and has been warned that she will have to wear an oxygen mask unless she stops smoking drugs.

“The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs, it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her,” Mitch Winehouse was quoted as saying. “There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She has 70 percent lung capacity.”

The 24-year-old soul diva collapsed at her north London home Monday after signing autographs for a group of fans and was taken to a London hospital for tests. She remained there all week.

She is still scheduled to sing at a concert in London on Friday celebrating the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela, the South African Nobel Prize-winner, and plans to take part in the Glastonbury music festival the following day.

Amy Winehouse still hopes to perform at the forthcoming Glastonbury Festival and Nelson Mandela concert, despite her ongoing treatment in hospital.

The 24-year-old Rehab singer is undergoing tests after fainting at home on Monday afternoon.

Winehouse is on the bill at the Nelson Mandela gig in London’s Hyde Park on 27 June, and at Glastonbury the next day.

“At present she still intends to perform at her two scheduled dates next week,” her spokesperson told the BBC.
