The movie also stars Curtis Jackson, a.k.a. 50 Cent, and Donnie Walhberg, whose album with reunited boy band New Kids On The Block debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 charts this week. Likewise, De Niro and Pacino will hope to turn in a good number at weekend box offices.

While the stars celebrated after the premiere at a swank party at New York City’s Terminal 5 venue, they may not be smiling now. Many early reviews of the film, which stars De Niro, 65, and Pacino, 68, as two detectives on the trail of a serial killer and opens in theaters on Friday, have not been kind.

Alonso Duralde, MSNBC film critic, wrote “the movie is so dreadfully by-the-numbers and predictable that comparing it to a TV cop show would be an insult to TV cop shows” and that De Niro and Pacino are “ridiculously overqualified” for it.

Reports say that the “Gold Digger” singer, 31, was arrested earlier today (September 11) at 7:51 a.m. outside of the passenger screening area at LAX International Airport by airport police. He was charged with vandalism after supposedly damaging a paparazzo’s camera that was valued at $10,000.
LAX spokesman Marshall Lowe told press: “Mr. West’s road manager was also arrested for vandalism and battery. Several witnesses are being interviewed by police. West and his manager are being transported to an LAPD station where they’re expected to be booked.”

At this point, a rep for the rapper says Kanye has “no comment.”

Democrat Barack Obama — whom Winfrey is supporting for president — was on “Oprah” twice before he announced his run for president, in January 2005 and in October 2006. Winfrey has said she will have neither party’s candidates on her show while they are running for their respective offices.

But the 58-year-old federation, which has 4,500 members, says Winfrey should have Palin on her show now, given how important the Alaska governor’s run is for women.

“She is an icon, and set her herself up to be such a women’s rights and women’s issues person. To have the first vice president of our lifetime on the Republican ticket being a woman and to sit it out regardless of what her personal political beliefs were was disingenuous, we felt,” the group’s First Vice President Cindy Graves told “FOX & Friends” on Wednesday morning.

Graves, 50, says she used to watch “Oprah” and occasionally bought her magazine. She told FOXNews.com that the group has been joined by women all over the country since launching the boycott last Saturday.

“People from Southern California, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado, Rhode Island, just about every state in the union. We’ve also had a tremendous response from Democrats and Independents who are supporting McCain, and Hillary supporters,” she said.

Asked whether the boycott is affecting Oprah’s TV ratings and magazine subscriptions, Graves said Winfrey is “keeping that quiet.”

A call to Oprah’s company, Harpo Productions, for comment was not immediately returned.

Winfrey reacted strongly on Friday to a report posted on the Drudge Report that she and “a couple of her top people are adamantly” against booking Palin on her show.

“The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue,” Winfrey said in a statement sent to news organizations in reaction to the Drudge Report’s posting. “There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Before Obama became a candidate, Winfrey used her show to introduce him to America’s women voters, and she has endorsed and campaigned with the Democratic nominee. She also was very visible at Obama’s nomination acceptance speech in Denver last month.

Winfrey and her executive producer, Sheri Salata, both donated the maximum $2,300 contribution to Obama’s campaign during the primary season.

According to the Drudge Report, Winfrey’s staff is sharply divided on booking Palin.

“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” an unidentified source told Drudge. “Oprah’s Web site is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”

In the past several years, it vaulted the Oscar hopes of “Last King of Scotland” star Forrest Whitaker and best picture candidates like “Atonement” and eventual best picture winner “No Country for Old Men” — while sinking the ambitions of hopefuls like “All the King’s Men.”

But this year the festival has brought little into focus. “I haven’t seen such an Oscar-less Toronto in a long time,” one exec said. “The festival is more than half over, and you still have no idea who the Oscar front-runners are.”

Instead of giving films an awards bounce, Toronto has served mainly to boost the commercial prospects of such entertainments as “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” “Burn After Reading” and “Zack and Miri Make a Porno.”

The cutback in the number of specialty films overall is partly to blame for why so few films have jumped to the front of the awards line.

Another factor: Many studios held back films from the festival either for strategic reasons or because they simply weren’t ready. Such potential award winners as “Milk,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Changeling” and “Australia” did not make the pilgrimage here.

Just as striking is the fact that films that are here are failing to gain traction. Some hopefuls, such as “The Duchess” and “The Burning Plain,” earned moderately favorable response but little talk of a breakout.

And titles that stalled at Cannes in May — such as “Che,” “Blindness” and “Synecdoche, N.Y.” — did little to revive their fortunes.
Some films that have received buzz — like “Lovely, Still,” which has drawn attention for Martin Landau’s performance — don’t have distribution yet, leaving any awards rollout in doubt.

Sometimes the lack of awards titles is just a matter of chance. Said awards publicity expert Tony Angellotti, “Oscar films can’t always be calendar- or festival-specific.”

But the festival might have helped clarify at least one category: the best actress race. The beneficiaries have been Anne Hathaway in Jonathan Demme’s dysfunctional-family drama “Rachel Getting Married”; Sally Hawkins in “Happy-Go-Lucky,” the Mike Leigh film about a chipper young schoolteacher; and, if Fox Searchlight chooses to make an awards push for her, “The Secret Life of Bees” star Dakota Fanning.

The lone film that has emerged as a genuine standout is Darren Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler,” which went in as a question mark and will leave as a contender in pretty much every major awards category. To a lesser extent, Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire” also is generating awards talk, though its cast is entirely unknown. Both are being handled by Fox Searchlight.

In acquisition news Tuesday, a deal was close on the “Chorus Line” documentary “Every Little Step,” with three distributors said to be in the mix. Buyers also circled the Kathryn Bigelow action film “The Hurt Locker.”
