IAEO-Vize Heinonen zu Atomgesprächen im Iran


Die Internationale Atomenergieagentur (IAEO) bemüht sich um weitere Klarstellungen des iranischen Atomprogramms.

Dazu traf IAEO-Vizechef Olli Heinonen am Donnerstag in Teheran ein, wie die amtliche Nachrichtenagentur Irna meldete. Beide Seiten wollten über die weitere Zusammenarbeit beraten, hieß es in der Meldung. Dem Iran drohen neue UN-Sanktionen, weil er nach Auffassung westlicher Mächte nur unzureichend auf ein Angebot zur Beilegung des Atomstreits geantwortet hat.

Die fünf UN-Vetomächte und Deutschland hatten angeboten, auf neue Sanktionen zu verzichten, wenn die Islamische Republik im Gegenzug die Urananreicherung aussetzt. Die Offerte sollte den Auftakt zu Verhandlungen über politische und wirtschaftliche Vorteile sein, die dem Iran bei einem Aussetzen der Anreicherung gewährt werden sollen. Die Führung in Teheran hat die Forderungen abgelehnt und Vorwürfe zurückgewiesen, unter dem Deckmantel der Energieerzeugung nach Atomwaffen zu streben. Angereichertes Uran kann sowohl in Atomkraftwerken als auch in Kernwaffen verwendet werden.
