Geschehe dies nicht, werde eine Abmahnung verschickt, sagte Behördensprecherin Silke Kaul. Dies sei immer der erste Schritt vor einer Untersagung. Die Frist für die Abgabe der Fusionspläne sei auf Antrag der Beteiligten Unternehmen bereits mehrfach verlängert worden.

In einer Abmahnung legt das Bundeskartellamt dar, warum es ein geplantes Zusammenschlussvorhaben untersagen will. Die betroffenen Unternehmen haben danach noch einmal die Möglichkeit, Stellung zu nehmen. Erst dann kann die offizielle Untersagung ausgesprochen werden.

Die Condor-Mutter Thomas Cook hatte im Juni angekündigt, Alternativen zu den Fusionsplänen zu prüfen. Deutschlands zweitgrößte Fluggesellschaft Air Berlin bestätigte seinerzeit, die bis Februar 2009 geplante Mehrheitsübernahme von Condor werde auf den Prüfstand gestellt.
